Unfortunately, It is fly season again! One female can lay thousands of eggs so it is important that you know how to get rid of flies quickly and efficiently. If no fly control measures are in place, you could have an infestation on your hands in no time. Flies… maggots… yuck!

Besides being a pain in the “you know what”, flies can also be dangerous because they transmit pathogens. Getting rid of any flying insects in your home should be a priority as soon as you spot them. If you haven’t already watched my video about how to get rid of flies I recommend you start there. When you are finished with that, I placed links down below to show you which traps performed best in my fly control experiment that I conducted this summer.

Catchmaster Clear Window Fly Trap

Translucent rectangles for your windows that are easy to apply and leave no mess. Just apply one or two of these on a window where flies are active. They work like a charm! This trap will catch all the flies inside of your house within a day or two. After the job is done, just peel it off the window and throw it away. These fly traps are much more effective and attractive than regular sticky traps and you guests will never even know they are there. A 4-pack is currently available for around $5 dollars!

(Chipp’s Best Pick) Flies-Be-Gone Fly Trap

This is my top pick for outdoor fly repellents/traps. The Redtop fly trap is capable of catching 20,000 flies per bag and lasts up to 12 weeks. This product is exceedingly effective. It has the power to be used on farms and areas heavily plagued by flies. So if you put one of these in your backyard, you will be in great shape. I keep one hanging from the oak tree in my backyard all summer long. It is easy to use, disposable and cheap!

Do You Need to Get Rid of More Than Just Flies?

Flowtron Electronic Insect Killer

I originally bought this bug zapper for mosquito’s and other insects. If you need an all-in-one product, Flowtron’s lantern-style insect killer is the way to go. It uses an ultraviolet light to eradicate flies, mosquito’s and other insects. It is non-toxic and provides 1-acre of protection. This insect product has a patented non-clogging killing grid. Clogging causes problems in other bug zappers and they can short-circuit or cause flare-ups. This insect trap is clean, safe for the environment and has a protective outer enclosure to prevent pets, children or other wildlife from being harmed.

Self-Repair Screen Patch

Between pets, kids, and severe weather fiberglass screens can take quite a beating. Small tears will eventually become a big hole if it’s not taken care of. Rips and tears in window, door and patio screens are more than just a eye sore. Flies, mosquito’s and other annoying insects can carry a variety of harmful pathogens. These self-stick screen patches are simple to use and install quickly. Best of all, they are very cheap. They come in 3”x3” charcoal color patches and can be easily trimmed to any size with a pair of scissors. In order to get rid of your fly problems, you need to close off all their entry points first.
